A house in the suburbs

From the Abbott and Costello radio show, “Lou Builds a House” – Bud Abbott tries to convince Lou Costello to build a house in the suburbs

Bud Abbott; Why don’t you build yourself a little house out in the suburbs?   You know what suburbs are, don’t you?

Lou Costello: Sure, ‘suburbs’ is an old French word meaning ‘long bus ride.’

Bud Abbott; You could have a lovely little place with a garden, the flowers spelling out your name.

Lou Costello: The flowers could spell out my name?

Bud Abbott: Certainly.

Lou Costello: How do you like that? The flowers are smarter than I am!
