Greenhouse routine [Abbott and Costello]

Greenhouse routine [Abbott and Costello]

From the Jail episode of the Abbott and Costello Show. Where Bud Abbott confuses Lou Costello with the meaning of the word “greenhouse” …. Enjoy!

Bud Abbott: [Handing Lou a tray of plants]I’m going across the street to that greenhouse to buy some more.

Lou Costello: You’re going to that greenhouse? Where?

Bud Abbott: Across the street there.

Lou Costello: That’s a white house over there.

Bud Abbott: That’s a greenhouse.

Lou Costello: How can that white house be a green house?

Bud Abbott: That is! The greenhouse.

Lou Costello: How can it be a green house if it’s painted white?

Bud Abbott: What is the difference of how it’s painted? If it was painted red, it would still be a greenhouse.

Lou Costello: You mean if that house was painted red, it would be a green house?

Bud Abbott Well, sure.

Lou Costello: Suppose it was painted blue.

Abbott: It would still be a greenhouse.

Lou Costello: Let me smell your breath.
